Austrian Sergeantís Halberd, 2nd Half 17th C

Slightly angled straight axe blade with rear beak, pierced with hearts and other geometric shapes. Slender 8 Ĺ" leaf-shaped thrusting blade. Integrally forged langets and added front and rear straps to protect the shaft. Mounted on original octagonal wood shaft (lower third bent), retaining most of its original black paint. Length of metal 29", overall 79 1/4". Very good original condition with mostly smooth metal surfaces, showing lamination and hand forging.
