Classic 1700's Iroquois French and Indian War Spiked Tomahawk
This delicate well balanced weapon was a favorite among the Iroquois Federation of warring tribes. Museum quality spiked tomahawk, the head with graceful style and patina, measuring 6 1/4" x 1 1/2"; featuring double ears, eight sided slightly curved spike, straight edge blacksmith made blade, tear drop eye with square nail in eye. Handle is an old replacement with traces of red ochre paint. From the Robert Wheeler collection, noted author and Revolutionary War expert. This artifact is featured in "Who's Who in Indian Relics, No. 9, pg. 293" and "Rare and Unusual Indian Artifacts" by Lar Hothem, pg. 265.
