English Flintlock Officer’s Pistol, ca. 1810

Quality pistol, the lock with swan neck cock and sliding safety, marked "BLAIR & SUTHERLAND" (Birmingham, 1799-1811). Round 6 1/8" barrel of .57 cal. with top flat, marked "LONDON", front bead sight, brass lined vent, and nicely engraved breech and tang. Steel ramrod thimbles and trigger guard, the latter nicely engraved with acorn finial and foliage. Figured walnut stock with checkered grip and vacant silver oval escutcheon. Wood ramrod with horn tip. Very good plus; the metal parts smooth with crisp markings. Wood sound with no cracks and only minor dents from age and use. Overall length 11".
