European Hunting Bayonet and Scabbard, Early 18th C
Unique and possibly one-of-a-kind, this bayonet features a broad 8 1/4" blade of oval section with baluster base and riveted to a 4 3/8" long faceted brass socket with three decorative turned sections (inside diameter 15/16"); notched to fit over front sight. Original black leather scabbard with brass drag and throat (leather damaged just above the drag). Scarce example for the advanced bayonet collector or a nearly impossible to find accessory for an early 18th C wheellock hunting gun.
