European Spontoon, ca. 1700, Probably German
Symmetrical head with broad leaf-shaped blade, shallow medial ridge, and upturned side cusps. Baluster base and integral conical ferrule with three turned decorations and a pair of straps; mounted on a section of round hardwood haft, painted black. Metal parts with later gold paint.
