German Halberd, 2nd Quarter 16th C
Fighting halberd with large angled slightly concave axe blade with rear beak; 12" thrusting spike of diamond-section and integrally forged 18 ½" side straps with small conical projections at the upper end and a pair of attached 11 ½" front and rear straps further protecting the shaft. Mounted on a large section of its original octagonal shaft (minor worming), bearing a branded cloverleaf on the front and rear faces and an old oval brass collection tag near the base marked "135". Axe head showing delamination on both sides near the upper point. Overall length 67".
