German WWII Army Officerís Dagger w/Portepee & Hanger, Rare Maker
Scarce maker, H. Kolping of Solingen, and bearing his trademark of a stylized beer stein with the initials "H K" inside a large "S". Uncleaned silver-plated hilt fittings, the guard with eagle and swastika and downturned scrolled quillons, conical pommel with raised oak leaf decoration. White celluloid grip showing minor discoloration and wear. Hexagonal-section double-edged 10" blade with clear makerís trademark on reverse, showing some minor scuffs and staining, but no nicks. Silver-plated scabbard with pebbled panels and two carrying bands with raised oak leaf decoration (top band loose). Original silver bullion portepee showing wear and thread loss. Original hanger with silver and gold metallic thread on obverse and green velvet on the reverse (wear to velvet and some loose threads); gilt buckles and snaps (some wear). Dagger and scabbard VG+.
