Gothic Basilard Dagger, ca. 1400
Reinforced 9" blade with pronounced medial ridge each side, stamped with a makerís mark on one side with remains of latten inlay. Crescent-shaped pommel and guard. Similar to the example pictured in Bashford Deanís book on daggers, number 8. Exact same style of cross guard and pommel. All the wood missing on this example, however rare cross guard and pommel design. Pitted overall, however, all steel intact. Lamination showing on cross guard, blade, and pommel.. Overall length, 14-3/4".
