Italian Vendetta Dagger, Probably 19th C, but possibly earlier
So small because it was made to be worn on a chain around a women’s neck and hidden in the bodice to be used in case she was assaulted. Very sturdy four sided blade with blood grooves. The blade is 3 1/4" long with a razor sharp tip, fine for piercing a juggler vein or an eye, etc. Very ornate because it was made for a woman. Chiseled steel hilt featuring spiral handle and steel swan neck cross guard. Concave pommel integral with the grip. Blade with practically all the original polish. Finely made four-sided silver scabbard showing great age with black patination. Silver loop attached to scabbard for the lady’s chain to go through so it could be worn around the neck.
