Military Wheellock Pistol, German or Austrian, ca. 1630
Plain lock plate with beveled edges; external wheel and sliding pan cover. Tapering 15 1/4" octagonal smoothbore barrel of 14mm caliber with stamped markerís mark at breech (somewhat obscured, but appears to be a crown over crossed scepters in a shield). Fruitwood full stock with simple incised line decoration (wormed, but sound). Iron mounts consisting of angular trigger guard with beveled edges, ramrod thimble, and flat butt cap. Replaced wood ramrod. Overall length 23 1/4". Cleaned metal, generally smooth, with patches of light pitting. Typical pistol carried by cavalrymen during the Thirty Years War and English Civil War.
