Remington New Model Percussion Revolver
Unmarked six-shot round cylinder. Octagonal 8" barrel in .44 caliber with screw-in front blade sight, the top flat stamped "PATENTED SEPT. 14, 1858/E. REMINGTON & SONS, ILION, NEW YORK, U.S.A.". Frame with long groove on top to provide the rear sight; brass trigger guard; two-piece walnut grips. Untouched dark patina, showing pitting and heavy wear, as do most examples; several nipples damaged. No visible serial number. Complete and functions normally, except that hammer does not advance the cylinder. Common sidearm of the American Civil War and bargain priced.
