Swiss M1914 Sawback Pioneer Bayonet
Very well-made, like most Swiss weapons, the M1914 bayonet featured an 18 7/8" alternating tooth sawback blade with a deep fuller on only the right side and deeply stamped with the maker "WAFFENFABRIK/NEUHAUSEN" on the ricasso. Straight steel guard with muzzle ring and stamped with a Swiss cross; two-piece wood grip riveted to the blade tang. The pommel is integral with the blade tang with mortised groove and spring leaf catch released by a button on the left side. Steel scabbard with loop for frog strap, stamped with a script "P" in two places at the throat. This example likely never issued, as it retains a mint blade with cosmoline coating. The scabbard and steel parts show rust from long storage, but no wear. Overall length 23 7/8". Would clean up to near mint condition if desired.
