Description
Rapier of large proportions, featuring cast iron symmetrical hilt comprising large pas d’ane with two side rings at the base and bars sweeping upward toward the pommel and joining the knuckle guard; recurved quillons in the vertical plane. Inverted urn-shaped pommel and grip in elaborate diamond pattern, wrapped with twisted iron wire and finished with Turks heads top and bottom. Slender 46 3/4” blade of hexagonal section with 10” central fuller and indecipherable markings in the fuller and maker’s mark on the long flat ricasso. Metal pitted overall, with a dark gray patina. Makes a good inexpensive wall hanger that looks impressive. Overall length 54 3/4”.
