Description
Of typical form featuring center-hung blade with slightly convex 7 3/8″ cutting edge; pierced with single and triple holes and a cross. Fruitwood handle inlaid with carved bone panels, depicting a miner at work with hammer and chisel, flowers, hearts, and a crucified Christ on the back edge. The solid bone handle on the bottom is engraved with the crowned arms of Saxony on one side and an oval bearing crossed miner’s tools on the other side. All inlays are present and appear to be original; patches of scattered light pitting on the blade. Fine example in very good plus condition; overall length 32 ½”
