Description
One -piece cast bronze mace head featuring three rows of seven studs each, arranged on
the upper half of the hollow cylindrical head with decorative raised rings at the top and
bottom. Hole at the base for a pin to secure the head to a wooden haft (absent). Cleaned
and conserved excavated condition with dull greenish patina and minor encrustation.
Length 6 1/4″ (158 mm), diameter 2″ (51 mm), weight 17 ounces (482 g). Simple, but very
effective early weapon used when opponents had little or no armor.
